Your plugin is really great! But unfortunately not working on my site. After enabling I keep getting a 404 not found error on every page.

    Can you fix that?

    Regards

    Hi,

Do you get the 404 on the admin pages ?

Can you email me the error and the URL to ian.haycox at gmail.com and I’ll have a look.

  3. Sasa Says:

    Ian, you have email.

Hello, I´m a F1 fan and finding this plugin was a very amazing thing to find :p

I´m trying to change the language into spanish. I edited some msgid´s from the file motorracingleague.pot using Macromadia Dreamweaver 8

After that, I uploaded this file again via FTP but…I don´t see any change whatsoever.

How can I edit the language?

    Thanks.

  5. admin Says:

Translations are created by using the .POT file to generate .PO and .MO files for each language.

I have emailed you instructions on generating the .PO and .MO files.

Adding Spanish would be very useful.

    Thanks.

Just passing by to say thank you very much for your support via email. I´ll be standing by for any update.

    Ian,

I just posted a request/suggestion in the WordPress site and I would like to share it with you as you are the king of motor sport guessing games competitions plugin authors.

I don´t know if it´s possible to have a variation of the “Motor Racing League” plugin into something like a “Guessing Game Quiz” where we publish let´s say 10 questions with whatever amount of possible answers to select, regarding. Eg, a future event like a F1 Grand Prix.

Question like: How many cars will be lapped by the winner?…as a example.

Questions that admins or editors can create, edit, publsh, etc…

The user of course will have to enter his guesses before the race, and we the admins the ability to close the entries before the race. And when the race is over (knowing the results) to enter the final and correct answers via admin panel and of course…publishing those correct answers and the most interesting…giving let´s say 1 point to the user per correct answer on that “round”. Also creating a table for the standings with the name of the user and their points acumulative for a especific season, a championship thing.

What do you think? Is it possible?

    Cheers.

  8. admin Says:

There a few plugins that do this already. I haven’t tried them but Competition Manager is one, and a couple of quiz plugins.

    They might fit the bill.

    Ian.

    Hello Ian,

There is no plugin for such of thing I was asking for…but anyway, I have a question for you.

Your pluging only gives points for correct pole position and correct finishing positions, right now those points are set for 10 pts which I believe, are editables in the motorracingleaguepoints.php file, right?

My question…would it be possible to add a function in the calculator that awards also points for guessing a driver/rider inside the Top 8 positions no matter if they are not exactly in the positions guessed?.

    Something like:

    10 Pts for Pole
10 Pts for exact position for the race, qualy, etc…
5 Pts for being in Top 8 position for race, qualy, etc…

    ———————-
Having the opportunity, I´d like to ask an extra question. For guessing the pole times, do you have intentions to make this possible?.

    Take care.

  10. admin Says:

    Hi Sammy,

You can write a PHP function to assign points how you like. Do not edit the default PHP file motorracingleaguepoints.php as it will be replaced on upgrades.

The best way is to copy motorracingleaguepoints.php to myscoring.php and then modify the championship to change the calculator function to myscoring.php. The idea is that every championship you define could have it’s own specialised scoring function.

As an example there is another supplied scoring file f1fanatic.co.uk.php which calculates points in a similar way that you would like. Have a look at that file. I wrote that for, surprise, surprise, http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk

If you know a little programming, or know a programmer, it should be easy to change. The scoring function is passed an array of the race finishing positions and an array of the the predictions. If you can’t get it to work then email me directly and I can write something.

I do have the another outstanding request to add an option to guess the pole time and the race fastest lap. It’s on my TODO list, so hopefully it will be added as an option in the next few weeks.

Hi, this plugin is what I was looking for. Thank you.
I have a problem when you install it, I get on the ftp server but when I activate it I get the following message:

Fatal error: Class ‘MotorRacingLeagueAdmin’ not found in /www/mysite.com/htdocs/site/wp/wp-content/plugins/motor-racing-league/ImportExport.class.php on line 5

    I have wordpress 2.8.4
    What could be the problem?

  12. admin Says:

    Hi,

Did all the files get copied correctly to the server ?

    You should have -

    changelog.txt
    css
    DataSource.php
    db-structure.sql
    f1fanatic.co.uk.php
    images
    ImportExport.class.php
    js
    lang
    license.txt
    motorracingleagueadmin.class.php
    motorracingleague.class.php
    motorracingleague.php
    motorracingleaguepoints.php
    readme.txt
    screenshot-1.png
    screenshot-2.png
    screenshot-3.png
    screenshot-4.png
    TODO.txt

Also, does it really say mysite.com as part of the message or have you changed it to protect your server name ? It just looks a little odd, unless it’s a test server.

    Regards,
